Objective
My intention is to use my educational and professional experience to establish a non-profit theatre in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo. I am interested in opportunities that broaden my experience in preparation for the launch of my theatre.

Professional Experience
• Gustavus Adolphus College Theatre Department, Lighting and Sound Technician (student job), 2021 to present – In this position, I was involved in every aspect of lighting and sound for several productions, including lighting and sound design, setup and programming and strike.

• Le Coeur du Partage d’Etienne, Inc., Founder and Executive Director, April 2023 to present – I founded a non-profit organization in Kampala, Uganda, that feeds over 600 weekly meals to children. In this role, I have had direct experience with establishing and managing non-profit entities, fundraising, hiring, casting a vision and leading a team.

• Let Africa Live, Board Member, May 2022 to present – I serve on the Board of Directors of a 25-year-old African non-profit (and its U.S.-based fundraising entity), setting strategic direction and overseeing the financial decisions of the organization.

Educational Experience
• Senior Student, Gustavus Adolphus College, September 2021 to present, majoring in Theatre Lighting and Sound – I expect to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre in May 2025. As part of my studies, I have had focus beyond theatre in areas of music, social justice and history and business management. Relevant classes include:
o TD228: Audio Engineering and Design – Hands-on study of sound as its own medium and rhetorical device, including use of basic sound systems, microphones and state-of-the-art mixers
o TD103: Experiments in Design – Principles and elements of visual composition as they relate to performance design
o TD238: Production Construction – Hands-on experience with technical theatre production, including set construction, preparation of props, lighting and sound.
o TD221: Light & Sound Design – A deeper study of lighting and sound for theatre and dance performances, with a focus on artistic collaboration. Included hands-on learning, instrumentation, hanging, focusing, recording and editing techniques.
o TD136: Social Justice Theatre – Studied the technique and theory behind theatre for social justice, with a focus on improvisation and theatre-devising, with a focus on Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed.

• Study-Abroad Experience, City University of London, January – April 2024 – This experience allowed me to focus studies on a “Theatre in London” course, experiencing ballet, opera, musical theatre, drama, Shakespeare and more. Relevant classes include:
o CU2017: Performing Arts in London – studied history of performing arts in London, including dance, theatre, ballet and opera, attended and studied performances
o CU2018: Historic London – studied the history of the city of London as context for performing arts study

• Theatre of the Oppressed – Workshop, Zamya Theatre Company, May 2024 – Participated in a workshop led by Adrian Peterson, founder of Cardboard Citizens Theatre Company, based in London.

Other Experience and Interests
• My YouTube channel, “Grace Knows the Place,” is built on my experience as an immigrant, and allows me to showcase American life to an African audience, and African life to an American audience.
